Ivor Gurney – (1890 – 1937) – war poet and composer, suffering manic depression, enlisted & wounded as a private soldier in the Gloucestershire Regiment suffering shell shock. 

Greatness? Suffered terrifically, yet still managed to enlist and produce brilliant work from within.
